DUNAGAN’s given name was George Washington.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Sometime in 1871 George Washington DUNAGAN married Martha Elizabeth WOOD. He died same year before only child, George Washington “Georgie” DUNAGAN, a girl, was born. His wife Martha never remarried. George G. Morris who died<\/p>\n\n\n\nPRESERVING HISTORY On page 2B of the March 6 issue of the Hood County News is a photograph of a headstone leaning against a grave. I had the headstone made for George Washington Dunagan.\u00a0\u00a0He was my 2nd cousin, 5 times removed.\u00a0\u00a0He was a private in Whitfield\u2019s Legion Cavalry and fought in as many as 160 different engagements, half of them around Atlanta, Georgia. He was a schoolteacher and died of pneumonia at age 38 after hunting.\u00a0\u00a0G.W. married Martha Elizabeth Wood.\u00a0\u00a0They had a daughter named after him.\u00a0\u00a0He also had a son from a previous marriage. Their daughter married Eugene Sebastian Morris.\u00a0\u00a0One of their sons, Forrest David, married Grace McIlroy.\u00a0\u00a0Their son, Kenneth, lives in the area of the Rock Church with his wife.\u00a0\u00a0G.W. and Mary Dunagan\u2019s daughter is buried at the Rock Church.
