Cemetery is 500 feet from road, just north of house. 3297-232.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Location Map<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Photographs<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The following\u00a0\u00a0information was extracted from\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Cemeteries of Hood County, Texas<\/span> by Mildred (Ford) Thormann\u00a0who received the information from\u00a0Mrs. Joe &#8220;Mary&#8221; McInroe of Joshua, Texas, daughter ofGeorge Washington &#8220;Georgie&#8221; DUNAGAN and Eugene Sebastian MORRIS.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>BAKER, W.B.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>b. June 1882<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>d. 1837 or 1857<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>This information scratched on a coffin shaped vault.<br>The death date is very difficult to read but I (Mrs. Joe<br>&#8220;Mary&#8221; McInroe of Joshua, TX) believe it to be 1857.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>DUNAGAN, G.W.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Erected by his wife Martha<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>b. Dunagan&#8217;s wife.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Childs Grave<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Rectangular slab, no writing<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>About thirty graves marked only by field stones.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Three or four of these graves are said to be Indian graves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Additional data extracted from the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/granburydepot.org\/newsite\/misc\/judge-henry-davis-records-collection\/\">Judge Henry Davis files<\/a>&nbsp;(DUNAGAN) at the Hood County Library.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>G.W. DUNAGAN&#8217;s given name was George Washington.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sometime in 1871 George Washington DUNAGAN married Martha Elizabeth WOOD.&nbsp;&nbsp;He died same year before only child, George Washington &#8220;Georgie&#8221; DUNAGAN, a girl, was born. His wife Martha never remarried. She died 8-13-1923 at age 92.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>George Washington &#8220;Georgie&#8221; DUNAGAN married Eugene Sebastian MORRIS on 8-18-1897.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Their Children:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Davis Forrest MORRIS<br>Thomas Bunyan MORRIS<br>Joseph Weldon MORRIS<br>A baby son who died at birth, unnamed<br>Lorenzo Eugene MORRIS<br>Mary Modine MORRIS who married Joe E. Morris who died<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Extraction from Letter to the Editor<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hood County News \u2013 March 13, 2004<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table><tbody><tr><td>PRESERVING HISTORY   On page 2B of the March 6 issue of the Hood County News is a photograph of a headstone leaning against a grave. I had the headstone made for George Washington Dunagan.\u00a0\u00a0He was my 2nd cousin, 5 times removed.\u00a0\u00a0He was a private in Whitfield\u2019s Legion Cavalry and fought in as many as 160 different engagements, half of them around Atlanta, Georgia. He was a schoolteacher and died of pneumonia at age 38 after hunting.\u00a0\u00a0G.W. married Martha Elizabeth Wood.\u00a0\u00a0They had a daughter named after him.\u00a0\u00a0He also had a son from a previous marriage. Their daughter married Eugene Sebastian Morris.\u00a0\u00a0One of their sons, Forrest David, married Grace McIlroy.\u00a0\u00a0Their son, Kenneth, lives in the area of the Rock Church with his wife.\u00a0\u00a0G.W. and Mary Dunagan\u2019s daughter is buried at the Rock Church.<br><br>Michael R.
