Hood County was organized in 1866 from Johnson County and a small portion of Erath County. In 1875 Somervell County was created from a portion of Hood County.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. J. N. Doyle of Acton was the first elected Hood County legislator to Austin in 1873 – seven years after the formation of the county.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The below information was extracted from the original rosters of the Texas Legislature published in 1939. Research was conducted at the Brazoria County Library in Angleton, Texas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
