Sarah died, and Thomas moved his family to Muscogge Co Ga. in the early 1840s. He married a second time to Dorcas Newberry on Jan. 12, 1843 in Columbus Ga. Thomas and his second wife are buried at the Fort Benning Reservation in Ga. In deed books in Augusta, documents dated in the 1830`s show him selling 150 acres on Rea`s creek; in November 1837 he sold 143 acres on Rea`s creek, and in June 1838 7-10 acres on Rea`s creek. Great-Aunt Leenor says he was a huge landowner. Sometime after 1838 he moved to the new section of Georgia in Muscogge Co., near Columbus, in which is now Chatahoochee Co. The new territory opened in 1826. Shirley`s ancestor line is Loveless Savage Ginn, son of Thomas Madison Ginn II.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Notes for LOVELESS SAVAGE GINN:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Loveless was a farmer, and distilled turpintine. He lived on a farm near Upatoes Ga. The Ft. Benning Reservation took over their land, and removed the old farm several years ago. When Loveless married, she was 15, and he was 23. All of their children were born in Ga. Loveless served in the Confederate Army during the Civil War, as a private, in the 695th Militia of Harris Co. Ga.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Loveless Ginn and Mary Elizabeth Henry Ginn, are both buried at Midway Cemetery on the Fort Benning Reservation. He and Martha were devoted members of the Midway Methodist Church. On his tombstone is the following: “Thou Memory Shall Ever Be A Guiding Star To Heaven.” Martha died only 2\u00bd months after her husband, at the home of her son Joseph, in Ellerslie, Ga., December 10, 1907. The family said she grieved herself to death at the age of 73. Her tombstone reads “As a star that is lost when daylight is given, she has faded away to shine brightly in heaven.” She was a fine seamstress, and made all of her granddaughters a quilt. Loveless dropped the Mc from McGinn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We think the family came from Scotland.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She was known as Aunt Katy by her family. She was the second wife of Thomas Madison III. Her family was from Louisiana. She lived with Joe and Alice for eleven years. Then she went to Aunt Essie to live. The reason she left is because there was health problems, and Aunt Essie could take care of her, and Aunt Alice worked.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He was the second owner of Comanche Peak in Hood Co. He bought it on September 4, 1916. Quoting from a book about Comanche Peak: Those who knew Loveless Ginn remember him as a man who always tended to business. He was faithful in his dealings, and was a man of thrift. For many years he was foreman of the section gang, old Ft. Worth & Rio Grand Railroad. His heirs sold Comanche Peak in 1947, after Loveless died in 1944.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Some time after her birth she moved with her family to another small house in rural Pulaski Co. near the Bethlehem Church and close to where her mother was born. This area is called Possum Trot. When Shirley was about two years old, her cousin Danny Girdler cut her right pinky finger off with a hatchet. She has the finger yet today in a small green glass container.
