Vernon H. Musick was born in 1901 in the Antioch Community north of Tolar, Hood County, Texas. He was "born again" while a student in John Tarleton College (now Tarleton University) in the summer of 1920. On December 22, 1922, he was married to Miss Alta Rose Alexander, with Rev. J.W. Huggins officiating. Two sons and two daughters were born to them. Mr. Musick was a farmer in his home community.

In 1932 he was ordained a deacon by the Antioch Baptist Church. At the annual session in 1942 he was elected Treasurer of Paluxy Baptist Association, and filled that position faithfully and efficiently for 20 consecutive years. His Lord called him to his higher home March 2, 1974. His pastor, Rev. E.A. Jodan, conducted the memorial service.
