Gerald Tidwell was born September 14, 1938, in Munday, Texas. He accepted Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord in 1952 in the First Baptist Church of Munday. He was ordained to the work of the ministry in 1959 in the El Paso Baptist Church in Fisher County, Texas. Huron A. Polnac was Moderator and George McBeth was Clerk of the ordaining council.
In 1957 he was married to Miss Margeret Yandell. They are the parents of three children.
Gerald was pastor of the church where he was ordained. He served as pastor of several other churches in Texas. At the present time he is pastor of the First Baptist Church, Durant, Oklahoma. He received his college training in Hardin-Simmons University, Abilene, Texas, and his theological training in Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He has served on the Executive Board of the Baptist General Convention of Texas. He has been one of the speakers at the Northwest Evangelism Conference, Northwest Baptist Convention, and at the Canadian Evangelism Conference. While pastor at Lipan he was elected Moderator of Paluxy Association and presided at the meeting in 1965.
