The hometown of L.H. Davis was Abbott, Texas. He was a student in the Gospel Music School of Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary 1921-1924, and received a diploma in Gospel Music in 1924. He was pastor of churches in Texas and Arkansas 1937-1960. From 1945 to 1949 he was pastor of the Tolar Baptist Church. In 1945 he was elected Moderator of Paluxy Association and presided over three annual sessions. He was called from his earthly labors on December 17, 1960.
