Occupants of this lovely county cemetery arrived in Johnson County when they first came to this part of Texas. Friendly Indians made it possible for the white man to live here in peace as far back as the 1850’s. The first marked grave bears a date of 1868. With many, many unmarked graves, only your imagination can suppose who and when the persons were laid to rest.

To drive to Fall Creek Cemetery today go to Acton and then follow highway #167 south. From the front gate of Pecan Plantation continue East for .6 mile. The cemetery is easily found on the north side of the road. There are several gates and ample parking.

The cemetery grounds are very well maintained. There are an unusual number of very large, impressive markers. Older markers have touching and lengthy epitaphs. Some were very difficult to read and may not be included in the directory. We regret this.

I noticed that a family listing in the Fall Creek Cemetery page on your web site has a mistake. My great-grandparents had two infant sons who died and were buried in that cemetery. I’ve visited the cemetery several times with my mother, and we know the correct names of the infants.

Charles Patton Holder and Amanda Josephine Hayward Holder had two infant sons, who died shortly after birth and were buried there. Those children were named:

Charlie W. Holder (this child’s name is incorrect on the web site)
Born 7 March 1884
Died April 1884

Newman B. Holder (there is no mention of this son on the web site)
Born 25 March 1889
Died 30 March 1889

Could this be changed on the web site please? My information comes from a family history written by another of their sons, my grandfather, and I’ve found in checking records that his information is correct.
