OBITUARY
Hughes – Bro. W. M. Hughes was born in South Carolina, Union District, March 25, 1823; he died August 17, 1882. He came to Texas in 1849; lived twenty-seven years in Centerville, Leon county; moved thence into Hill county, and thence to Granbury, where he has been residing for the past three
years. He had gone with his family into Hill county to spend part of the vacation on their farm, where he sickened and died. He professed religion and joined the church early in life, and lived consistently until death. He loved to talk of religion, and when tried by afflication he declared his confidence in God. He had many friends, and leaves a large family to mourn his loss. God grant his bereaved companion grace to so rear up her little ones that each may have a home where there will be no tears no parting. God has promised to be a husband to the widow, and a father to the fatherless. —
L. S. Chamberlain.
