OBITUARY OF LETA BLACKWELL VANCE

1912 – 2002

Funeral services for former Ardmore resident Leta Vance, 90, Hurst, Texas, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 29, 2002, at Craddock Funeral Home Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery.

Born May 20, 1912, at Lipan, Texas, to Thomas Wiley and Effie Viles Blackwell, she died May 24, 2002, at a Hurst, TX health care facility.

She married Edgar Vance on Feb. 8, 1931, in Grandfield, Texas. He preceded her in death on April 20, 1970.

Mrs. Vance and her husband lived in Ardmore most of their married life. She had lived at the Bishop Davies Nursing Center in Hurst for the past 2 years. She had been an active member of the First Baptist Church of Ardmore for several years, where she was a member of Faith Sunday School Class and the Young at Hearts Group. She was a homemaker and had worked at Ardmore Memorial Hospital as a floor clerk.

Survivors include two sons, Thomas Gene Vance and his wife, Gladys, of Euless, Texas, and Donald D. Vance and his wife, Laura, of Angel Fire, N.M.; two sisters, Jewel Norris, Arlington, Texas, and Johnnie Bell Doyle, Wichita Falls, Texas; five grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Bearers are Jeff Vance, Scott Hickfane, Chris Gavlac, Marland Vance, Doug Ketch, W.A. Mauldin and Jimmy Don Vance.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 tonight.
