OBITUARY – FORT WORTH STAR TELEGRAM
Bonnie Lee Watkins Hopper died March 5, 2000, in Goodall-Witcher Hospital in Clifton, Texas. Funeral services will be held, Wednesday, March 8, 2000, at 1:00 PM at Wiley Funeral Home in Granbury, Texas with Rev. Lauren C. Endahl officiating. Burial will be at Stroud’s Creek Cemetery in Tolar, Texas.
Bonnie Lee Watkins was born May 24, 1914 in Tolar, Texas to Robert Clifton and Nora Carlile Watkins, the youngest of seven children: Lola May, Mabel, Clarence Howard, Carl Clifton, Mary, and R.C. Her grandparents, David Edward and Carolyn Adelia Daniel Watkins came to Texas from Tennessee around 1880 and settled in Hood County.
She grew up in Tolar, Texas and attended school there. August 13, 1932, she married her high school sweetheart, Dallas Carvel Hopper. The young Hopper couple lived in Granbury and had one child Robert Carvel Hopper. They later moved to Lampasas, Texas and retired to Clifton, Texas.
Bonnie grew up in an era when being a wife and mother was a full time occupation. She devoted her life to making a loving home for her husband and son. She was active in the Methodist Church, garden and civic clubs in both Granbury and later Lampasas, Texas.
Mrs. Hopper is survived by her son Robert Carvel Hopper and his wife Jo Ann of Salado, Texas, two nieces, Delores Cochran and Lanora Potter and one nephew, Clifton Watkins. Her beloved husband, Carvel died February 23, 1997 and is buried at Stroud’s Creek Cemetery.
